The Book Reconsideration Committee was formed this year in order to update our district policy and processes. If a book is challenged by a stakeholder, the committee has create a process to follow. We work with our community to provide appropriate, engaging materials for all students.
As a grade level team leader, I facilitated communication between administration and other 7th grade teachers. I supported my colleagues by objectively representing each concern, guiding the group to a mutual resolution. I collaborated to support our students and staff while also managing the Literacy department budget.
This committee works to continually improve curriculum across all grade levels and contents. We met together to represent various levels and subjects. Collaboratively, we evaluated and improved the programs offered to our students. I served as the 7th grade Literacy representative and created a new course for our accelerated and gifted learners.
I was able to serve on this committee to find where we could enrich our curriculum for gifted and accelerated students. We worked closely across various contents to develop the accelerated Literacy course. This course works in tandem with the counterpart courses, Humanities or Technotics. We collaborate to provide a rigorous curriculum for our accelerated learners.
